Wind Lake North Cape Drifters Snowmobile Club

WIND LAKE NORTH CAPE DRIFTERS

SNOWMOBILE CLUB

The Wind Lake Drifters Snowmobile Club was established in 1973 and is still going strong. Several years ago the club was renamed The Wind Lake/North Cape Drifters because over time the hub of our trails had become more concentrated in the North Cape and Kansasville areas. The club is very family oriented with activities including club snowmobiling trips, a chili dump, a vintage ride, and a club motorcycle ride. The Drifters’ Christmas party has become so well known that Santa even makes an annual appearance! The Wind Lake/North Cape Drifters is a growing club with about 90 registered members each year.

SAFETY CERTIFICATION

The Wind Lake/North Cape Drifters Snowmobile Club holds a yearly snowmobile safety certification course. Anyone who was born on or after January 1st, 1985 must be certified in order to operate a snowmobile unaccompanied.  A snowmobiler who does not turn 29 years old before January 1st, 2014, must take a safety class! Students will be taught snowmobile laws along with how to operate snowmobiles safely and responsibly.  It is recommended that students be at least 12 years of age by the end of this winter season to attend. The cost of the class is $10.00 per student.  A seat in the class can be reserved through either the on-line process starting at dnr.wi.gov or by calling Snowmobile Safety Instructor Mark Grobarchik at (262) 781-0640. Students must also have a Customer ID number from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in order to receive a safety certificate.  Contact the DNR at 1-888-936-7463 anytime between 7am to 10pm on any day of the week to obtain this Customer ID number.  Students who have completed other DNR safety courses will already have this number.  There is no cost to get this number.
